Waupoos
The word Waupoos comes from the Ojibwe word ‘waabooz’ or ‘rabbit.’ Waupoos is one of many small communities that were originally called “Fifth Town.” This eastern arm of The County is fruit and apple country. Waupoos boasts a variety of pick-your-own lakeside fruit farms, a cidery, and vineyards reaching out to the water’s edge.
Take a County ‘horn trip’ for an ideal country drive. Head out the point from Cape Vessey, to Cressy. Curve around to Prinyer’s Cove and head back to the mysterious natural phenomenon that is Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park.
The Glenora Ferry can be seen from the Park. This sweet ride shuttles travelers (for free!) across the Bay of Quinte and east towards Kingston. There are no shortage of stunning Lake Ontario views here.
