While The County is great for walking all year round, there's something about going for a stroll in the fall that just *hits different.* ⁠
⁠
If you're looking for somewhere to stretch your legs in between amazing meals and delicious tastings, here's some ideas: ⁠
⁠
🌳 Glenwood Cemetery. Designed as a garden cemetery, this active cemetery is set in rolling hills, with majestic mature forests, gardens, water features and winding walking paths. Plus, the colours are pretty brilliant in fall. ⁠
⁠
⛰ Macaulay Mountain Conservation Area. Whether you're looking for a stroll or a more "proper" hike, you'll find plenty to enjoy here: from the famed Birdhouse City, to the 20km of hiking trails, and all the way up to the steep east-west escarpment on this 178 hectare (440 acre) property. Be sure to stop by Macaulay Heritage Park before you depart. ⁠
⁠
🛤 Millennium Trail. While most often used by cyclists, the Millennium Trail is also a great way to get in some steps while getting between destinations. Do an out and back, or do an out and get a taxi back - on the Trail you choose your own adventure. ⁠
⁠
🕯 Prince Edward Point Natural Wildlife Area. Home to the Point Traverse Lighthouse and the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, this Natural Wildlife Area is also home to a small, but lovely, network of hiking trails to enjoy the sights and sounds of the local wildlife and their habitat.⁠

As with all outdoor spaces in The County (and beyond), be sure to treat all trails with respect remember to take only pictures 📷 and leave only footprints 👣. ⁠

While cycling is an activity enjoyed all year round in The County, the Fall offers the perfect conditions for experienced and recreational cyclists alike. With the roads being quieter than they are at the height of summer and the temperatures cooler, it’s the perfect time to hop on your bike and explore.⁠

⚙ Pick your style. Road, gravel, hybrid, cruiser, electric - there's cycling (and rentals) for every style in The County. Know what type of cycling you're planning to do and plan your route accordingly. ⁠
⁠
🛤 Cycle the Millennium Trail. The Trail is 46km gravel route that takes you across the county on a former railway line. This is a great, off-road way to get between major destinations in The County. ⁠

🛣 Hit the open road. There are tons of great road cycling routes in The County of all lengths and difficulties. ⁠

🍷 Make it a craft beverage tour. Cycling is a great way to get between wineries, breweries and distilleries while touring The County. Rent a bike or bring your own and map out your perfect route. ⁠

If you're visiting The County this fall or winter, be sure to plan your destinations in advance. While this time of year is quieter, it's also the time of year that some businesses modify their hours of operation after a busy summer. ⁠
⁠
So before you arrive be sure to research the wineries, breweries, restaurants, galleries and experiences that are of interest on VisitPEC.ca, and then take that list and check it twice. ✅✅ ⁠
⁠
Visit their websites, follow those businesses on Instagram or Facebook, check their stories, send a DM or call ahead to confirm that you can visit when you plan. And don't forget to make a reservation where you can or plan in a little time to wait for a table (it can still be busy on the weekends!) ⁠
⁠
It may take a little time, but it's worth doing to make for a fantastic experience - plus, the research will likely give you plenty of inspiration for another future County trip!⁠
