South Shore

Made up of farms on fertile soils, limestone shorelines, and the (temporary) home of migrating birds – the South Shore of The County is a natural gem encompassing the hamlets and villages of Cherry Valley, Milford and Black River. Each has their own unique charm. Laugh alongside locals during a sketch comedy improv show at the Cherry Valley community centre or see the prize-winning chickens behind Mount Tabor Playhouse during the Milford Fall Fair. Black River is surrounded by multi-generational farms producing everything from honey to heirloom tomatoes and is known for its iconic cheese factory, Black River Cheese. Shallow shoreline waters reveal trilobite and horn coral fossils and support thriving ecosystems at Little Bluff and Point Petre Wildlife Conservation Areas. The Prince Edward Point National Wildlife Area at the eastern tip is home to the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory – an internationally regarded birding area. Outdoor adventure seekers will be keen to dive in to shipwreck sites, scan the skies for more than 30 species of warblers or cycle lilac-lined roads to nowhere.
